Whine, almost no wine
I was feeling lazy yesterday, but I had to bike into town and drop off a receipt for Duke, whose UPS I left to be repaired in San José. I was kicking myself because I had to find the receipt in the morning and it turned out it was in my wallet; I could have given it to him on Saturday and avoided going to town.
Sheran was kind enough to call the phone company and report that our phone was out, but got no answer. I hung around ATEC a little while and checked my email. I should have emailed Paul to tell him I was out of touch. I stopped at the store for some last-minute stuff for dinner, and headed home, pausing briefly at Beach Break to watch the surf contest going on there.
We had invited Ron and Ray for dinner and I was trying to help Alaine get ready for that when I got back home, but I was still feeling lazy and she got sick of my whining, so I came up to the computer and kept working on “blogifying” my journal until about 5, when I went back down and had a drink with Alaine and helped some more. The guys were a little late because they had a hard time buying wine. It was the mayoral election day and businesses are not allowed to sell alcohol. Somehow they managed to buy 2 bottles of very nice Chilean wine. I made margaritas, which they said were great. We finished cooking while enjoying those beverages and some coconut chips Alaine had made. We ate spinach fritatta, curried cauliflower and zucchini, and baked squash. We had a pineapple/naranjillo crisp with ice cream for dessert. Everything was delicious.
We all retired to the hammock area, finished off the wine and talked until 11 o’clock. It was fun getting to know Ron and Ray and I hope we’ll be able to spend more time with them.
Alaine has to go to work today. I get to stay home and goof with MovableType some more. I also have to fix the wiring that I cut yesterday while trying to take out the short wall between the kitchen and Selva’s room.
